Winter is hard on vehicles in Mississauga. Road salt, potholes, cold starts, and freezing temperatures all take a toll. Spring is the perfect time to undo the damage and get ready for warmer months.
1. Wash Your Car Thoroughly
Road salt accelerates rust. Get a full wash including the undercarriage as soon as roads are clear. Salt damage is cumulative — the longer it sits, the more damage it does.
2. Check Your Tires
If you are switching from winter to all-season tires, spring is the time. Check for wear, cracks, and proper inflation. Ontario roads in spring are full of potholes that can damage sidewalls and knock wheels out of alignment.
3. Wheel Alignment
Mississauga potholes are brutal. One good hit can throw your alignment off significantly. Signs: car pulls to one side, uneven tire wear, steering wheel off-centre. Book an alignment check.
4. Brakes
Winter braking in snow and ice is hard on brake components. Check pad thickness and rotor condition — especially before summer road trips.
5. Windshield Wipers
Remove winter wiper blades and install standard blades. Spring rain season is coming.
6. Fluid Check
Check engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and washer fluid. Top up or change as needed.
7. Battery Test
Winter is hard on batteries. If it struggled starting in cold weather, test it before summer heat finishes it off.
