May at Rankin Automotive

New online booking, local community updates, automotive news, and big projects in the shop.

Hi neighbours,

Spring is finally settling in around Clarkson and Lorne Park, and with longer days, busier roads, and weekend plans starting to fill up, it’s a good time to get your vehicle ready for the season ahead.

This month we’re keeping it local: a few community notes, some automotive news worth watching, and a quick update from the shop at Rankin Automotive.

Around Clarkson & Lorne Park

  • Mississauga Youth Weeks run from April 27 to May 8, with free programs and activities for youth and young adults across the city.
  • Clarkson Village BIA has local events posted throughout the season, including ongoing Museums of Mississauga programming and a Spring Plant Sale on May 23 at Clarkson Community Church.
  • Lorne Park Clarkson Hockey Association is already looking ahead to the 2026–2027 season, with registration and tryout information available for local families.

We love seeing this part of Mississauga come alive in spring. If you’re heading out to local events, sports, cottages, or weekend drives, it’s worth making sure your vehicle is as ready as your calendar.

Automotive news we’re watching

EV policy and pricing are still moving targets. Canada’s EV plans and industry strategy continue to evolve, especially with tariff pressure and changes in manufacturer targets. For drivers, that means the market for new vehicles, hybrids, EVs, and parts may keep shifting.

Parts availability and pricing remain worth watching. Tariffs and supply-chain changes can affect repair timelines and part costs. We’re keeping an eye on this so we can give customers practical advice before the bill surprises anyone.

Tires are changing with the vehicles. EVs, hybrids, SUVs, and heavier vehicles are pushing more demand for XL-rated tires, all-weather options, and stronger tire designs. The right tire choice matters more than ever — not just for traction, but for wear, noise, and ride quality.

Recall checks are still important. Transport Canada continues to publish vehicle, tire, and child-seat recall notices. If you’re not sure whether your vehicle has an open recall, we can help point you in the right direction.

What’s new at Rankin Automotive

The big news this month: our new website is live, and it now includes online booking. If you’ve been meaning to schedule maintenance, a tire changeover, a diagnostic, or a spring inspection, it’s now easier to request an appointment without having to call during shop hours.

Cadillac Escalade Stage 3 cam and valvetrain upgrade

A serious performance job with supporting valvetrain work to make the setup reliable and worthwhile.

That’s the balance we love: everyday repair and maintenance on one side, and detailed performance/restoration work on the other.

For regular spring service, we’re also seeing the usual seasonal mix: tire swaps and tire condition checks, brake inspections after winter driving, suspension noises from pothole season, A/C checks before the first real heat wave, performance and summer-toy prep, and general maintenance before cottage trips and road trips.

Quick spring maintenance tip

  1. Tire pressure and tread depth
  2. Brake feel and brake noise
  3. Windshield wipers and washer fluid
  4. A/C performance
  5. Any clunks, vibrations, or warning lights that appeared over winter

Small issues caught early are usually cheaper and easier than waiting until they become roadside problems.
