Squeaking vs Grinding
Squeaking or squealing — this is usually the wear indicator on your brake pads. Most pads have a small metal tab that contacts the rotor when pads are getting thin. It is a warning, not an emergency, but do not wait long.
Grinding — metal on metal. Your pads are completely worn. This is an emergency. Every km you drive is damaging your rotors and potentially your calipers. Get it looked at immediately.
