When your air conditioning stops blowing cold, there are a handful of common causes. Here is what our licensed mechanic typically finds when diagnosing AC issues in Mississauga.
Low Refrigerant
The most common cause. Refrigerant leaks out slowly over time from small cracks in hoses or O-rings. A recharge without finding the leak is a temporary fix — we find the leak first.
Failed Compressor
The AC compressor pressurizes the refrigerant. If it fails, the system will not cool at all. You may hear a rattling noise from the compressor clutch engaging and disengaging.
Clogged Cabin Air Filter
A severely clogged filter restricts airflow through the evaporator. The AC may be cooling but the air cannot get through. Cabin filters are inexpensive and should be replaced every 15,000-20,000 km.
Electrical Issue
Blown fuses, failed relays, or a faulty AC pressure sensor can all prevent the system from engaging even if everything mechanical is fine.
